Maine Students Make Art for Climate Action

December 06, 2020

Americans Who Tell the Truth

The eighth-grade art students of Cynthia Pease on the downeast island of Deer Isle, Maine have created a beautiful collection of climate-themed paintings. The students began the process with no strong engagement of the climate crisis but, through a process of scientific research, documentary viewing and climate education, became passionate about specific aspects of the problem.

Now smaller versions of these lush-colored paintings are available online as 5′ x 7″ notecards. The proceeds from donations to this fund-raising effort will benefit the island high school’s Ecology Club, as well as the area’s community-based volunteer organization Climate Action Net
