Old Town School Hosts AWTT Exhibit
AWWT is delighted to be showing eight portraits at the Old Town Elementary School in Old Town, Maine this spring. The exhibit – opening on April 28, 2015 and ending on May 23 – is sponsored by Bangor Savings Bank. The school would also like to thank Old Town High School teacher Justin Lewin and his son Gavin for building easels to display some of the portraits.
The exhibit includes the portraits of Margaret Chase Smith, Samantha Smith, Denise Altvater, Abraham Lincoln, Rachel Carson, Deca Dhalac, Myles Horten, and Ross Gelbspan.
The OTES faculty organizers emphasize that all art classes, civics classes and community organizations in the area – or any interested groups – are invited to schedule a visit. Along with the portraits, AWTT offers a broad array of lesson plans and activities, to help students, as well as adult viewers, explore the messages that AWTT portrait subjects convey. “Exciting things will happen within our classrooms around these portraits!” they promise.
