Maine College of Art & Design will feature AWTT artist Robert Shetterly and his work on Monday, April, 22, 2024. The all-day event is one of several Spring sessions celebrating visiting artists.

“MECA&D’s Monday Speaker Series is a supportive endeavor to provide the public and  community with invaluable dialogue and exchanges of ideas within creative disciplines.” Professor John Portlock of MECA’s Painting Department will host Shetterly and facilitate discussions with his students. Shetterly will offer a public address, highlighting some of his favorite portrait subjects and their stories. Discussions with students throughout the day will include exploration of art and activism. What is an artist-activist? How does art inform activism? Can a serious artist engage in both?

Located in the heart of Portland, Maine’s Arts District, Maine College of Art & Design is a small and robust school of 500 students.
