A Message From Artist Robert Shetterly:

Yes, Truth Tellers shares many amazing stories of the people I have painted. But all of us at AWTT hope you will delve deeper into the remarkable educational programs that my portrait subjects have inspired.

Thousands of students from around the country have explored art and activism through our Samantha Smith Challenge. Is your school interested in participating this year?

Syracuse Exhibit

AWTT visits schools and other community-based venues with unique programming that encourages people of all ages, in all walks of life, to find their voices. Most recently, I visited Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, to join John Alston and his Chester Children’s Chorus for an afternoon of magical music. Also AWTT partnered with the town of Orono, Maine, in hosting a month-long program Queer Stories Tell the Truth, that included panels, narrative workshops and portrait exhibits in multiple venues. Perhaps your school or community would like to create its own Truth Teller event or series, based on these – and many other – community models.

Let your inspiration lead you to action. NOW!

Love, Robert Shetterly
