Portrait Exhibits & Community Engagement

Americans Who Tell the Truth (AWTT) portraits can be combined to illuminate a vast array of themes in both sophisticated and humble exhibit venues. Community engagement programs combine exhibits with public events that stimulate interdisciplinary dialogue around citizenship, democracy, education, and activism.

Curate an exhibit choosing from the 280+ AWTT portraits or pick from one of our 23 pre-curated exhibits. Exhibits are often built around themes — environmental justice, civil rights, indigenous issues, women’s rights, and more. Exhibits have been staged in universities, museums, schools, libraries, churches, and other public and private venues. There are so many ways to curate an exhibit of these portraits, whether large or small.

With our portraits and narratives of courageous citizens, AWTT can help you create collaborative, educational, and community engagement. These events show our ongoing effort to realize America’s democratic ideals and our commitment to act for the common good and grow in the service of deeper democracy.

“Americans Who Tell the Truth shows us how to support and grow a citizen identity from the inside, an identity that’s grounded in one’s own values, qualities of character, habits of attention, care and compassion.”
