Con Fullam Portrait to be Unveiled at Free Concert in Portland

The Hill Arts in Portland, Maine will host a free community concert by Pihcintu Multinational Girl’s Choir and the Burundi dance and music group, Akiwaco, on Saturday, September 6 at 4:00 p.m.  The event will also feature the unveiling of the newest AWTT portrait, that of Con Fullam, founder and conductor of Pihcintu, accomplished musician, director and producer, and five-time Emmy Award nominee.

“Since its inception in 2006, the Pihcintu chorus has performed for over 300,000 live and hundreds of millions via broadcast and internet media including the Today Show, National Public Radio, Voice of America, Al Jazeera, Univision, UN TV and You Tube. They have appeared at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington DC, The National Cathedral, Washington, DC and the United Nations, New York, New York to name but a few of the venues. Over the course of time over 300 girls representing 40 countries have passed through the chorus with 100% high school graduation and 85% post-secondary education.”

This event is part of The Gospel Messiah Project, a series of performances presented by the collaborators of Gospel Messiah: A Refugee Oratorio, leading up to the project’s culmination on November 14-16. The series is funded in part by The Onion Foundation, Maine Humanities Council, and The Nichols Fund.
