Naomi Klein Awtt Portrait

All new AWTT portrait exhibit at BALE

BALE, a community-building organization in Vermont’s White River Valley, will be hosting an all-new exhibit of Robert Shetterly’s AWTT portraits from September 25 through December 8, 2023.

Join us for the opening event on September 25 at 4:30-6 p.m. To view the show at other times, please text (or call) 802-498-8438.

BALE describes its work as “building resilience, building community”. . . “we focus on such things as gratitude, conscious living and valuing what is important to the human spirit. . . .”

“This fall, you’re invited to come to sit with the words and compelling portraits that are part of a now-260+ collection – the inspiration of artist/activist Robert Shetterly of Brooksville, Maine. These amazing portraits travel the country making a huge impact in local schools and communities. Sharon Elementary School fourth and fifth graders will have an in-person gathering with [the artist] on Thursday, September 21.”

Featured portrait above is Naomi Klein whose quote, scribed into the painting, says, “…our economy is at war with many forms of life on earth, including human life. What the climate needs to avoid collapse is a contraction in humanity’s use of resources; what our economic model demands to avoid collapse is unfettered expansion. Only one of these sets of rules can be changed, and it’s not the laws of nature.”
