SUMMARY:Close to Home: Rob Shetterly Portraits
DESCRIPTION:Reversing Falls Sanctuary (RFS) in Brooksville, Maine, hosts twenty AWTT portraits during the month of June 2026. The Sanctuary’s gallery is within a mile of Rob Shetterly ( https://americanswhotellthetruth.org/about/about-the-artist/ )‘s home in North Brooksville. Titled “Close to Home: Robert Shetterly’s Portraits of Maine Heroes Who Tell the Truth,” the show will feature portrait subjects with a Maine connection, including Brooksville’s own Scott Nearing ( https://americanswhotellthetruth.org/portraits/scott-nearing/ ) and nearby current and past residents: Noel Paul Stookey ( https://americanswhotellthetruth.org/portraits/noel-paul-stookey/ ), Rob McCall ( https://americanswhotellthetruth.org/portraits/rob-mccall/ ), and Sister Lucy Poulin ( https://americanswhotellthetruth.org/portraits/sister-lucy-poulin/ ).  As Bec Poole of RFS said while choosing the portraits: “They all feel like neighbors.”\nThe opening reception will take place from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026. This event, Celebrating 250 Years of Joyful Resistance, will feature local musicians Geoff Warner and Molly Gawler, storyteller Becky McCall, and artist Robert Shetterly. Several portrait subjects may be in attendance; join us and be surprised!\nThe exhibit will run through the end of June.\nGallery Hours : Weds. 4-6pm, Fridays 4-7 pm, Saturdays 1-4 pm.\nReversing Falls Sanctuary is a “community of welcome and inclusion that responds to the local and global needs of our times. We strive to be deep listeners of all the stories in our midst and to honor the stories where the past, present and future are interconnected in fruitful ways. We aspire to be a community that welcomes all, that encourages the identification of individual gifts, and that enables people to use those gifts for the common good.”\n\nRFS’s Gallery Within highlights Reversing Falls Sanctuary’s mission to support the arts. “This beautiful space provides RFS the opportunity to support artists through professional-level exhibitions and artist events. We emphasize diversity – offering our space to established artists, those with diverse political messages, members of the LBGTQ+ community, and emerging artists. Our art programs, including classes for all ages, are central to who we are as a community.”\nRead art review in The Rising Tide\n\n
