SUMMARY:AWTT at Every Teacher a Leader Conference
DESCRIPTION:Connie Carter, AWTT’s Director of Education, and Samantha Maheu, Troy Howard Middle School art teacher, will be presenting at the first annual Every Teacher a Leader summit taking place from July 30 to August 1 at Colby College. AWTT’s Friday morning session, “Using Americans Who Tell the Truth to Build Connections, Relevance and Action,” will focus on using AWTT portraits and lesson resources to build a bridge between the classroom and the world, helping students to become courageous and involved citizens who work for the common good.\nOver 170 teachers across Maine will have the opportunity to come together to build community, attend workshops by and for teachers, earn contact hours, and grow as leaders. This year’s conference will offer workshops centered around:\n\nleading for innovation,\nleading for equity,\nleading through relationships, and\nleading with best practices in the classroom.\n\nThe conference is sponsored by the The Teach Maine Center, a collaborative project of Educate Maine and the Maine Department of Education.\n
