DESCRIPTION:The organization John Brown Lives! is co-sponsoring an event at the John Brown Homestead on the afternoon of July 17, 2025. Reprints of twenty-five Americans Who Tell the Truth portraits will be featured.\nThe opening of the AWTT art installation, including John Lewis ( https://americanswhotellthetruth.org/portraits/john-lewis/ )‘s portrait, will take place from 3 -4 p.m., followed by a march down John Brown Farm Road. From 4:30- 6:30, the group will gather at the intersection of Old Military Road and Route 73 for a “Honk & Wave” peaceful assembly.\nCo-sponsor of the event, Adirondack Voters for Change, says, “In Lewis’ memory, Good Trouble Lives On Day of Action calls people of all walks of life and backgrounds to come together to take peaceful, non-violent action to challenge injustice and create meaningful change.”\nThis event kicks off the display of  twenty-five AWTT portrait reproductions at the John Brown Homestead during July and early August. AWTT artist Robert Shetterly will be leading a discussion titled “James Baldwin’s Dream” at the Homestead at 5 p.m. on August 2.\nJohn Brown Lives! (JBL!) is a nonprofit freedom education and human rights organization that uses arts and education, advocacy and activism to engage the public in excavating useful legacies of the past in order to inspire community and civic action that addresses critical social justice issues today. They are the official NYS Friends Group of the John Brown Farm State Historic Site in Lake Placid, NY.\n
