DESCRIPTION:The inspiring documentary film Truth Tellers will be shown at The Public Theatre in Lewiston on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2014, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12, available on Eventbrite ( https://www.eventbrite.com/e/truth-teller-documentary-tickets-1064413913669?aff=oddtdtcreator ) and at the door.  The screening is a prelude to the major exhibit of the entire AWTT portrait gallery ( https://americanswhotellthetruth.org/events/bates-mill-hosts-second-comprehensive-awtt-portrait-exhibit/ ) at the Bates Mill Complex later in the month (Nov. 15 – Dec. 15).\nTruth Tellers asks “what defines a great American?” Through Maine artist/activist Robert Shetterly ( https://americanswhotellthetruth.org/about/about-the-artist/ )’s 270+ portraits of great Americans – his “models of courageous citizenship”- we learn about the fearlessness of those defending democracy, fighting for racial justice, indigenous rights, and the youth battling a changing climate. These “Americans Who Tell the Truth” teach us about the moral courage it takes to protect our country’s founding ideals.
